การแยกชนิดคำถามให้ถูกเป็นขั้นตอนสำคัญก่อนเริ่มเขียน เพราะถ้าเราตีโจทย์ไม่เเตก ต่อให้ภาษาแข็งแรงก็มีโอกาสตอบไม่ตรงประเด็น

4 ชนิดคำถาม Writing Task 2

Opinion Question	To what extent do you agree or disagree? Is this a positive or negative development?	ตอบความเห็นพร้อมอธิบาย สามารถตอบด้านเดียวหรือสองด้านก็ได้
Discussion both views/ Outweigh	Discuss both views and give your opinion. Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?	ต้องตอบให้ครบทั้งสองด้าน
Problem & Solution	Why do you think this happens and what can … do to help…?	แยกสาเหตุ/ปัญหาออกจากวิธีแก้และตอบให้ครบทุกส่วน
2-part Question	Why …? What factors …?	มี 2 คำถามที่อาจเป็นคนละประเด็น ต้องตอบครบทั้งสองข้อ

ตัวอย่างข้อผิดพลาดคำถาม ‘Outweigh’

Some experts believe that it is better for children to begin learning a foreign language at primary school rather than secondary school.

Do the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages?

โจทย์นี้ไม่ได้ถามว่า “เด็กควรเรียนตอนประถมหรือมัธยม?” แต่ถามว่า “ข้อดีของการเริ่มเรียนภาษาต่างประเทศในระดับประถมเเทนมัธยมมีมากกว่าข้อเสียหรือไม่?”

แยก “ประโยคเกริ่น” กับ “คำถามจริง”

Many museums charge for admission while others are free.

Do you think the advantages of charging people for admission to museums outweigh the disadvantages?

ประโยคแรกเป็นบริบท ส่วนคำถามจริงอยู่ที่ประโยคที่สอง ดังนั้นหัวข้อหลักคือข้อดีและข้อเสียของ “การเก็บค่าเข้าชม” ไม่ใช่คำถามว่า “ควรเก็บหรือไม่ควรเก็บ” แบบกว้างๆ

It is important for children to learn the difference between right and wrong at an early age. Punishment is necessary to help them learn this distinction.

เราต้องตอบทั้งสองคำถาม ไม่สามารถตอบเพียงข้อใดข้อหนึ่งได้

2. What sort of punishment…?	ชนิดของการลงโทษที่ parents/teachers ควรได้รับอนุญาตให้ใช้ ไม่ใช่แค่อธิบาย “ข้อดีของการลงโทษ”
